Madison County Playoff Football: Regional Final

And then there was one.

Entering the Regional Finals stage of the OHSAA football postseason, West Jefferson High School is the only Madison County school that remains. Tonight they face their most difficult challenge yet.

WEST JEFFERSON and FORT FRYE (Beverly) – 7pm Saturday at Logan

On Saturday, the Roughriders (12-1) will face the top-seeded Cadets (13-1). You can listen to this game live thru great coverage by our friends at ReadyFM (105.1).

For the third consecutive week, West Jefferson took home a playoff win in convincing fashion as they took care of Fairland to advance to the Regional Final. Running back Hayden Salyer added to his impressive postseason, and now has 1,220 yards on the ground for the season, with 21 total touchdowns. QB Tyler Buescher has eclipsed the 3,500 yard mark thru the air, and his favorite target — MJ Book — sits right at 1,200 yards.

As dominating as the offense has been, the defense has been even more spectacular, shutting down three solid squads during this playoff run. Last week, Asher Wilson anchored a crushing defense for the Roughriders. It was a great collective effort in controlling Fairland

It will be another tough test tonight as Fort Frye has won each of its last two playoff games by identical 42-7 scores. The defending Division VI Region 23 champs boast a five-headed running back monster including Maeson Long, Owen Brown, Collin Welsh, Ethan Duskey, and Braxton Brown. Ian Ellis runs the show at quarterback.
